Dining at Thornhurst

Food worth sitting down for.

Our kitchen works with fresh, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, prepared on the day by chefs who understand that the difference between good food and food people talk about afterwards is simply the attention you give it.

Casual lunch, long dinner, birthday table for twelve, the roast that becomes a Sunday habit. Whatever brings you through the door, you’ll find the same thing: attentive staff, a room with a view of the grounds, and no rush to hand you the bill.

Drinks & Manor Bites

The Lounge

The lounge is where most evenings here start, and where a fair few of them stay. A considered selection of wines and ales, spirits, and a Manor Bites menu for when you want something to eat without committing to three courses.

Come in before your table’s ready, settle in after a round of golf, or make the lounge the whole plan. Open from 11:30am, seven days a week.

Lunch & Dinner

The Restaurant

Our main dining room, open seven days a week from lunch straight through to dinner. Fresh, locally sourced ingredients, prepared on the day, served by a team who have been doing this here a long time.

Sophisticated enough for an anniversary and relaxed enough for a Tuesday, which is a harder balance to strike than it sounds. Tables set well apart, big windows onto the manor grounds, and nobody hovering to turn your table over.

Casual lunch, long dinner, or a celebration that needs a proper table. Walk-ins are usually fine midweek, though weekends are worth booking.

A Quintessentially British Tradition

Afternoon Tea

Delicate pastries, scones baked fresh that morning, elegant open-top sandwiches and premium loose teas, served in our elegant setting with the grounds stretching away beyond the window.

It suits a birthday, a baby shower, a catch-up with someone you haven’t seen in far too long, or an afternoon with no occasion attached at all. Time moves a little more slowly at this table, which is rather the point.

Every Sunday

Sunday Lunch

A proper British Sunday roast: tender meats, Yorkshire puddings with a crisp on them, seasonal vegetables and every one of the trimmings. Nothing reinvented, nothing deconstructed. Just the version you were hoping for when you booked.

It’s the meal that brings the same families back week after week, three generations round one table, the afternoon disappearing pleasantly. Booking is recommended, Sundays fill up.
